Opus 7’s annual Holiday concert of works for the Advent and Christmas season will focus on music and text by women composers and poets, including composers Carol Barnett, Abbie Betinis, Alice Parker, and Gwyneth Walker, as well as Seattle’s own Melinda Bargreen and Karen P. Thomas. Works composed by Barnum, Ferko, MacMillan, Mathias, Mawby, Paulus, Perera, and Georg Schumann will also be featured. In keeping with the theme, many of the works focus on the Virgin Mary. Sacred poetry and chant by the revered Hildegard von Bingen will be featured throughout the concert.
